 I LOVE THE ÌBÀDÀN OBASHIP SYSTEM.  I know every system has its pros and cons. Also, no matter how good or bad a system is, some people will like it while some won't. In Ìbàdàn, the kings are usually old before they ascend the throne. Therefore, many do not reign for long. This has made many people criticize this system and call for its review but I want to tell you why I feel this system is very beautiful. There are two lines which are the Ọ̀tún (civil line) and the Balógun (military line). So, it's like a queue that keeps moving. When one Olúbàdàn ascends to be with the ancestors, the next person in line ascends the throne. Here's why I think the system is very good one. 1. You know who the next king is. Economic Hardship: Price of Spaghetti jumps to N950 from N80, single egg N300, butter N1,400, sardine N1,020, 50Kg bag of rice N77,000 — Report. The prices of staple food have gone up amid worsening inflation, Peoples Gazette is reporting. It is reported that since President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, his economic policies have made life more difficult for Nigerians. On Thursday, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Nigeria’s inflation rate climbed to 29.90% in January 2024. Market findings conducted by Peoples Gazette have now revealed that one pack of Spaghetti that was formerly N80 is now N950; one carton of Titus fish which used to be N40,000, is now N76,000; one medium size of Blue Band butter that was once N500, is now N1,400; the price of 50kg bag of rice has risen to N77,000 from N35,000, while a 100kg bag of dry white old maize that used to be N18,000 is now sold for N58,000. A combined team of the police, Amotekun, OPC, NSCDC and local hunters on Tuesday being embarked on a bush combing operation through Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah to the thick forest around Iju/Ikere boundary as part of effort to rid Ekiti State of insecurity. During the operation, five suspected kidnappers namely- USMAN JELILI, MOHAMMED BANDE, ABUBAKAR ALIU, ISAH ABDULAHI and SULEIMAN ABDULAHI were arrested. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Ekiti State Police Command. During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be herdsmen but it was later discovered that none of them has a cattle and no cattle was found with them in the forest where they were arrested.
