The ancient palace of the Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom, *His Royal Majesty, Ọba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola Ilufemiloye, Akinyooye III* was a beacon of religious harmony and unity yesterday evening as he graciously hosted both the Muslim Community and the Christian Association of Nigeria, Orolu chapter to break the Ramadan fast with him. This gesture of inclusivity and respect for diversity underscored the king's commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence among his people. The invitation extended to the Christian Association was not only a symbolic gesture but also a practical demonstration of the king's desire for all his subjects to participate in the festivities, especially as it is also the lent fasting period.
During the event, the atmosphere was filled with serenity and reverence as the Chief Imam of Ifon-Osun, Sheikh Muheebulahi Abdulsalam Adesina III led in opening prayers after which the Representative of the CAN President prayed in Christian way. The Grand Mufasir (Preacher) of Ifon, Sheik Nuraeni AbdulRaheem and the representative Orolu CAN President delivered heartfelt sermons and prayers. Both religious leaders emphasized the importance of divine guidance, unity, love, and mutual respect among the residents of the town. Their messages resonated deeply with the attendees, highlighting the king's vision of promoting religious tolerance and understanding within his community.
After the prayers and sermons, the attendees were treated to a sumptuous feast featuring a variety of meals prepared by caterers. The guests were free to choose from a wide array of dishes, ensuring that everyone could enjoy a meal of their preference. Additionally, a selection of fresh fruits was available, adding a refreshing touch to the evening's festivities.
The event was a testament to the power of unity and inclusivity. Through this event, the king not only brought together people of different faiths but also provided a platform for them to celebrate their diversity and foster a sense of community spirit. May Allah accept all our efforts during this holy month as acts of ibaadah. The programme continues today.
