Joint Security Team Arrests Five Suspected Kidnappers in Ekiti

A combined team of the police, Amotekun, OPC, NSCDC and local hunters on Tuesday being embarked on a bush combing operation through Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah to the thick forest around Iju/Ikere boundary as part of effort to rid Ekiti State of insecurity.

During the operation, five suspected kidnappers namely- USMAN JELILI, MOHAMMED BANDE, ABUBAKAR ALIU, ISAH ABDULAHI and SULEIMAN ABDULAHI were arrested.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Ekiti State Police Command.

During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be herdsmen but it was later discovered that none of them has a cattle and no cattle was found with them in the forest where they were arrested.

The following items were found with them in the forest; Two Motorcycles, one cutlass, one jack knife/ dagger and four phones.

Federal Government May Raise Minimum Wage to N200,000, to Take Decision Soon.

There are strong indications that the federal government is favourably disposed to raising the minimum wage to as high as N200k per month as demanded by the organised labour in the country. However, state governors are urging for caution while Anambra State governor Charles Soludo has been asked to chair a Technical Working Group (TWG) to resolve the issues and its various dimensions. LEADERSHIP gathered that the matter was discussed at the last month's National Economic Council (NEC) meeting and it was there that the Salaries, Incomes & Wages Commission made a presentation on how the federal government can meet up with the demand of N200,000 per month minimum wage. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the Lagos government has received the first batch of electric buses for public transportation, making it the first state in Nigeria to do so. Tricycle Driver Strung Up For Killing Passenger Over #50 In Bayelsa.

A keke driver has been lynched to death shortly after he stabbed a young man named Douglas Joseph to death over N50. According to reports the incident happened in Yenizue-Epie community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. The passenger who was stabbed by the Keke driver, Douglas Joseph, 30, was a native of the community and a father of three. According to an eyewitness, the keke driver charged the passenger a fare of N150 which was supposed to be N100. The passenger, Douglas did not agree to pay the fare and it ended in a fight.
