Renewed Communal Clash: Osun Govt Imposes 6pm -6am Curfew on Ifon and Ilobu communities

Following the just concluded state security meeting, Osun state government has taken the following decisions aimed at ensuring lasting peace in the warring communities of Ifon and Ilobu: 


1.That a 6pm to 6am curfew will be imposed with immediate effect starting from today, Tuesday, the 30th of Jan 2024 on the warring communities;

 

2.That the Osun state government should set up a joint task force of all stakeholders in the warring communities, which should include traditional chiefs of Ifon, Ilobu and Erin Osun with immediate effect;


3.That a high powered stakeholders meeting will be held with all traditional chiefs and  rulers from the three communities with government officials and all security chiefs in attendance;


4.That a contingent of all security personnels, comprising the Army, Police, Civil Defence, be deployed to the warring communities with immediate effect.


While the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has mobilized all the necessary security personnel to the warring communities, it sympathises, accordingly with the affected people, who lost their loved ones in the wake of the renewed violence


Premised on the review of the security situation, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in his capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the state, has approved  that the 6pm to 6am curfew be imposed with immediate effect.


Finally, in this regard, anyone or group of persons found or caught doing or instigating any further violence, knowingly or unknowingly, in breach of lasting peace would be made to face the music, via necessary prosecution, in line with the dictates of the law of Nigeria.

The father of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad has spoken about the death of his son. In a video interview that went viral on Saturday, Joseph Aloba narrated, "I think the injection led to his death. Adekunle Gold blasts Buhari, says Nigerians wasted 8 years.

Nigerian afrobeat singer and songwriter, Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari's administration for the hardship in the country. This is coming a few days after Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade lamented over the suffering of Nigerians. However, the 'It is what it is' crooner said the Buhari-led administration had done nothing other than waste eight years of Nigerians' lives. In a tweet, Adekunle Gold said the country has been in regression since the Buhari administration took over in 2015. "This current administration wasted 8 years of our lives. 8 years, we regressed as a nation,"  he wrote. In 2022, Adekunkle Gold had disclosed to his fans that he was born with sickle cell disease, adding that at the age of 20, he begged God to take his life due to the unbearable crisis.

Court Reinstated Ademola Adeleke as Governor of Osun State.

The appellate court sitting in Abuja has upheld Mr Ademola Adeleke Nurudeen as the governor of Osun State. Recall that the Osun State tribunal had sacked Adeleke as Governor months after his victory citing such issues as over-voting in 749 polling units in the 10 LG areas of the state. A three-member panel of justices decided in Adeleke's appeal on Friday, concluding that the election tribunal fell short in finding that Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress had established their claim of over voting. The court of appeal had faulted the tribunal for making a decision which was based on oral witness of alleged over voting as what is usually considered are the information on the BVAs and voter registration. In addition to overturning the tribunal's decision, the court gave the All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate Gboyega Oyetola N500, 000 in costs in its lead judgment, which was delivered by Justice Mohammed Lawal.
