NFG- Nigerian Federal Government Claims Spending Of $1.2m To Evacuate Nigerians From Sudan To Egypt.

The  Federal Government  has said that about $1.2m was used to evacuate the stranded  Nigerians  out of Sudan. The piece of information was disclosed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, during a briefing by State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council, FEC. According to the minister, the government provided security cover for the eight-hour journey from Luxol to Cairo and the eleven-hour trip from Aswan to Cairo, Egypt, and 40 buses to transport about 2,400 students from Sudan. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Onyeama, also noted that no Nigerian lost their lives in the conflict, and said there are no talks about alternative plans for continued  education for the evacuees, most of whom are students  of the University of Khartoum.

Tricycle Driver Strung Up For Killing Passenger Over #50 In Bayelsa.

A keke driver has been lynched to death shortly after he stabbed a young man named Douglas Joseph to death over N50. According to reports the incident happened in Yenizue-Epie community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. The passenger who was stabbed by the Keke driver, Douglas Joseph, 30, was a native of the community and a father of three. According to an eyewitness, the keke driver charged the passenger a fare of N150 which was supposed to be N100. The passenger, Douglas did not agree to pay the fare and it ended in a fight. "He said he was coming from Opolo community to Kpansia which was supposed to be N100, but the Keke rider insisted on collecting N150. "As we were separating them, we saw the Keke rider bring out a dagger. We thought it was just to scare the youth. But he stabbed him on his lap and the young man fell to the ground. Ladoke Akintola University LAUTECH Bans All Students From Taking Cars To School.

Students of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso in Oyo State, have been barred from driving or bringing cars to the campus. The management of the institution also banned the use of tinted vehicles by staff members and students, adding that learner permits must be placed on the vehicles of beginner drivers. Unauthorized vehicles parked at various locations in the university are to be taken out with immediate effect. Registrar of the institution, Kayode Ogunleye said the decision was reached at a management meeting held on Wednesday, April 19. He said; "The University management at its regular meeting held, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, deliberated on the occurrence of traffic on the campus and decided as follows: "Vehicles owned by students are hereby banned from entering the university campus. A trending video has shown the moment Davido and his manager, Asa Asika, shunned an interviewer who asked an insensitive question. During a recent concert, a member of the press threw a question to Davido about his recently released Timeless Album. The interviewer inquired to know why the album only featured party songs, and none to mourn the demise of his late son. Reacting to this, Davido's countenance immediately changed while his manager, Asa Asika, tackled the interviewer. Davido disclosed he told his team to leave one hour before his album was released, prayed and then slept. Chinese Government Denied Sponsoring of Terrorism in Nigeria.

The Chinese government has denied reports that it is complicit in the proliferation of terrorist activities in Nigeria. The comment was made in reaction to a revelation by a British newspaper, The Times, that claimed Chinese mining industry employees were sponsoring terrorist organizations in some parts of Nigeria to gain access to the nation's mineral resources. The Times claims that it has sent its research to an analysis team in Lagos. However, in a statement issued by its mission in Abuja on Monday, via its Twitter handle, China denied the allegations calling the reporting "irresponsible". The Lagos Government has berated the promoters and marketers of the movie "Gangs of Lagos" describing it as mocking Lagos' cultural heritage. Why not watch the video here. FG approves Third Mainland Bridge maintenance N6bn.

The Federal Government on Wednesday April 12, approved N6.28bn for surface maintenance of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.   The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, stated this while briefing State House correspondents after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.   He said the move aligns with Executive Order 11 signed by the President Muhammadu, in April 2022, which gave legal backing to the country’s national maintenance policy.   Fashola also revealed that the 24-month repair will cover 11 kilometres, including interchanges, ramps, and critical links on the Third Mainland Bridge.   The announcement comes barely two weeks after the Lagos State Government said it would undertake rehabilitation works on the 32-year-old bridge to repair failed and peeled asphaltic sections and substructure.   “Council approved a fresh contract for the maintenance of the pavement of the third mainland bridge and this was approved in the sum of N6.2
