Economic Hardship: Price of Spaghetti jumps to N950 from N80, single egg N300, butter N1,400, sardine N1,020, 50Kg bag of rice N77,000 — Report. The prices of staple food have gone up amid worsening inflation, Peoples Gazette is reporting. It is reported that since President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, his economic policies have made life more difficult for Nigerians. On Thursday, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Nigeria’s inflation rate climbed to 29.90% in January 2024. A combined team of the police, Amotekun, OPC, NSCDC and local hunters on Tuesday being embarked on a bush combing operation through Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah to the thick forest around Iju/Ikere boundary as part of effort to rid Ekiti State of insecurity. During the operation, five suspected kidnappers namely- USMAN JELILI, MOHAMMED BANDE, ABUBAKAR ALIU, ISAH ABDULAHI and SULEIMAN ABDULAHI were arrested. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Ekiti State Police Command. During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be herdsmen but it was later discovered that none of them has a cattle and no cattle was found with them in the forest where they were arrested. Popular Nigerian actor and filmmaker Azeez Ololade Ijaduade is fighting for his life after being shot by a police officer in Iperu, Ogun State. The incident occurred on Saturday night.
