Ifon/Ilobu conflict: Governor Adeleke Read Riot Act to Sponsors

Governor Ademola Adeleke has vowed to punish those behind the resurgence of violence around Ifon/Ilobu areas of the state.


In a virtual security meeting which continues as at the time of issuing  this report, Governor Adeleke said those who ignited the attacks again will be rounded up and arraigned for breaching peace in the area.


“I hosted a virtual security meeting last night. A physical meeting is now ongoing. We will not spare sponsors of this dastardly act.


“ Any traditional ruler found to be fanning embers of violence will be removed from office. Requisite intelligence is being gathered on the extent of culpability of prominent leaders from the two areas.


“ Since yesterday, I have issued relevant directives which are being implemented to calm the situation.All through the night, security teams have commenced de-escalation operations.


“We have dispatched security teams and further measures will soon be announced”, the Governor who is attending a national minimum wage meeting at the State House, Abuja noted.


“ This time around, those involved will pay the price in line with the law of the land”, the Governor warned.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, regrets to announce the passing of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of the Army Staff, at age 56. He passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness. Born on February 28, 1968, Lt. General Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu. Twitter owner, Elon Musk, has said that the microblogging platform will soon be paying users for ads appearing when other people view their profiles in what comes as an extension of Twitter's monetization program. This offer is, however, exclusively for verified users, according to Musk. For creators on Twitter who are already getting paid for impressions on their content, the Twitter boss said the new monetization program would make it a double payout. Tinubu Signs Electricity Act 2023, Empowers States, Private Companies To Generate Power.

This new law will empower states, companies, and individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in the country. The Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, has signed the 2023 Electricity Act which is a replacement for the Electricity and Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 into a law. The newly enacted law will de-monopolise Nigerian electricity generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity at the national level. This new law will empower states, companies, and individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in the country. Recall that the Electricity Act 2023 was initially passed by lawmakers in July 2022 to allow the states to issue licences to private investors who can operate mini-grids and power plants within the state. There is a small town on your way to Oyo, just behind Fiditi, it's called Ilu Ajẹ. Literally, it translates to "Town of Witches". In the late 80s,  there used to be a sign board in Fiditi that pointed to the path to the village,  the signboard had the inscription : "WAY TO ILU AJẸ, HOME OF SCIENCE!". Lots of people used to fear indigenes of Ilu Ajẹ because it was said that every man in Ilu Ajẹ is born of a witch, and every woman in ilu Ajẹ is a witch!. It was said some people visited Ilu Ajẹ to find out why a whole village would be populated by witches. What they said: Because the Baale (village head) is dead and no replacement has been chosen yet, we met with the chiefs who told us the history of the town.
