Ifon/Ilobu conflict: Governor Adeleke Read Riot Act to Sponsors

Governor Ademola Adeleke has vowed to punish those behind the resurgence of violence around Ifon/Ilobu areas of the state.


In a virtual security meeting which continues as at the time of issuing  this report, Governor Adeleke said those who ignited the attacks again will be rounded up and arraigned for breaching peace in the area.


“I hosted a virtual security meeting last night. A physical meeting is now ongoing. We will not spare sponsors of this dastardly act.


“ Any traditional ruler found to be fanning embers of violence will be removed from office. Requisite intelligence is being gathered on the extent of culpability of prominent leaders from the two areas.


“ Since yesterday, I have issued relevant directives which are being implemented to calm the situation.All through the night, security teams have commenced de-escalation operations.


“We have dispatched security teams and further measures will soon be announced”, the Governor who is attending a national minimum wage meeting at the State House, Abuja noted.


“ This time around, those involved will pay the price in line with the law of the land”, the Governor warned.

Federal Government May Raise Minimum Wage to N200,000, to Take Decision Soon.

There are strong indications that the federal government is favourably disposed to raising the minimum wage to as high as N200k per month as demanded by the organised labour in the country. However, state governors are urging for caution while Anambra State governor Charles Soludo has been asked to chair a Technical Working Group (TWG) to resolve the issues and its various dimensions. LEADERSHIP gathered that the matter was discussed at the last month's National Economic Council (NEC) meeting and it was there that the Salaries, Incomes & Wages Commission made a presentation on how the federal government can meet up with the demand of N200,000 per month minimum wage. Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has told Igbos what to do if they want to see their embattled son and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, freed from detention. In a Twitter post on Wednesday (yesterday ), Omokri said Kanu would regain his freedom if only the Igbos could play their cards right. The socio-political activist admonished the Igbo-speaking region to desist from violence and convert IPOB into a political party. According to him, there is more love for the Ndigbo than hatred. Omokri stressed that the Igbos could turn the Southeast into a paradise if only they could stop the violent activities allegedly perpetrated by the IPOB across the region.
