Ifon/Ilobu conflict: Governor Adeleke Read Riot Act to Sponsors

Governor Ademola Adeleke has vowed to punish those behind the resurgence of violence around Ifon/Ilobu areas of the state.


In a virtual security meeting which continues as at the time of issuing  this report, Governor Adeleke said those who ignited the attacks again will be rounded up and arraigned for breaching peace in the area.


“I hosted a virtual security meeting last night. A physical meeting is now ongoing. We will not spare sponsors of this dastardly act.


“ Any traditional ruler found to be fanning embers of violence will be removed from office. Requisite intelligence is being gathered on the extent of culpability of prominent leaders from the two areas.


“ Since yesterday, I have issued relevant directives which are being implemented to calm the situation.All through the night, security teams have commenced de-escalation operations.


“We have dispatched security teams and further measures will soon be announced”, the Governor who is attending a national minimum wage meeting at the State House, Abuja noted.


“ This time around, those involved will pay the price in line with the law of the land”, the Governor warned.

Federal Government May Raise Minimum Wage to N200,000, to Take Decision Soon.

There are strong indications that the federal government is favourably disposed to raising the minimum wage to as high as N200k per month as demanded by the organised labour in the country. However, state governors are urging for caution while Anambra State governor Charles Soludo has been asked to chair a Technical Working Group (TWG) to resolve the issues and its various dimensions. LEADERSHIP gathered that the matter was discussed at the last month's National Economic Council (NEC) meeting and it was there that the Salaries, Incomes & Wages Commission made a presentation on how the federal government can meet up with the demand of N200,000 per month minimum wage. Following the victory of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, at the Supreme Court, afrobeats star, Davido has announced plans to hold a musical concert in Osun State. We reported that the apex court on Tuesday affirmed Adeleke's victory in the July 12, 2022, governorship election in Osun State. Taking to his Twitter handle shortly after the judgement, Davido announced plans to hold a "Timeless concert" in Osun State later in the year. Lagos State Governor Delivers The First Electric Buses in Nigeria.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the Lagos government has received the first batch of electric buses for public transportation, making it the first state in Nigeria to do so. Tricycle Driver Strung Up For Killing Passenger Over #50 In Bayelsa.

A keke driver has been lynched to death shortly after he stabbed a young man named Douglas Joseph to death over N50. According to reports the incident happened in Yenizue-Epie community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. The passenger who was stabbed by the Keke driver, Douglas Joseph, 30, was a native of the community and a father of three. According to an eyewitness, the keke driver charged the passenger a fare of N150 which was supposed to be N100. The passenger, Douglas did not agree to pay the fare and it ended in a fight.
