Recall that on September 6, 2023, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal had struck out the appeals of Atiku and Peter Obi of Labour Party. Both men headed for the apex court, with Atiku asking to file extra evidence against Tinubu on alleged forgery. Atiku had sought Tinubu’s academic record from Chicago State University so as to prove his allegation that the president submitted forged documents to INEC. However, by the time the documents were release, the 180 days statutory period within which an election petition should be filed and determined had elapsed. The Senate has passed for first reading a bill that recommends a fine of N50,000 to parents who default in providing their children with primary and secondary school education. The delay in releasing the much awaited result, is also delaying the conclusion of admission into universities this year. It would be recalled that NECO,which concluded the conduct of the examination in early August 2023, had stated to release the results within 45 days but the promise did not materialise. Information later filtered in that the results would be made public on September 26th or 30th but the two dates came passed without any show.
