Peter Obi And NADECO/ Democracy Day.

I just read a piece by Peter Obi talking about June 12 as the fulfilment of our collective Democratic goal. I could not just believe that Peter Obi...... 1.  In 1993, at the tail end of the unending IBB series of Transition Programs, the government set up two government parties -SDP and NRC. MKO Abiola emerged as the Presidential Candidate of SDP while Ibrahim Toffa was the NRC candidate.  IBB was a student of Egyptian ex-President Gamal Nasser and molded his trajectory to leadership after him. Nasser was a military general who planed a coup but handed over power to a senior General Mohamed Naguib to take all the international bashings that new heads of military juntas get. He stayed behind and did all possible to make the government unpopular. BREAKING NEWS : Supreme Court Affirms Ademola Adeleke As Osun State Governor.

The Supreme Court has affirmed Ademola Adeleke as the duly elected governor of Osun state. The apex gave the ruling this afternoon May 9, while delivering judgment in an appeal filed by the immediate past governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC challenging the ruling of the Appeal Court which upheld the election of Adeleke. Delivering judgment, the five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Emmanuel Agim, held that the court of appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the July 16, 2022 poll, saying he scored 403,371 votes to sack Oyetola who was the then incumbent and polled a total of 375,027. Oyetola and his party had alleged irregularities in the polls and challenged Adeleke's victory in the tribunal. Tinubu  Nigeria’s ‘president-elect’, Bola Tinubu, will be sworn in on May 29 despite the court cases challenging his victory, the information and culture minister, Lai Mohammed has said. Mohammed, however, noted that opposition political parties have the right to challenge the outcome of the presidential election in court. SaharaReporters had reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the former Lagos Governor and the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the ‘winner’ of the February 25 presidential election. According to INEC, Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar who polled 6,984,520 votes.
