British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua is currently spending four days alone in a pitch-black room after paying £2,000 for the experience. 

 

 

The style of retreat is used by various sporting stars as a method of meditation to help athletes be alone with their thoughts.

In a post on Instagram before embarking on the retreat, Joshua wrote: 'Myself and [my friend] are about to embrace the darkness and solitude for four days (separate rooms).

 

 

'Isolated with nothing to do except relax and clear the mind while being immersed in infinite darkness.' He will emerge on Friday.

The 34-year-old has been fed via food passed into the room but there has been no social interaction or light all week.

 NFL star Aaron Rodgers, who embarked on a similar retreat, shared his experience in March, stating: 'It was a great reset for me, for my body and my mind,' the 39-year-old said of the four-day excursion. 'Maybe a little bit longer than I needed. I feel like by the time I got to the fourth day, I was like, ''Alright, I'm ready to come out".

BREAKING: Court jails Akwa Ibom YPP gov candidate 42 years for corruption.

Mr. Albert. The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Bassey Albert, has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for corruption. A Federal High Court in Uyo, on Thursday, convicted and sentenced Mr Albert who was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He has been taken to Ikot Ekpene prisons, Akwa Ibom State , to serve his prison term. Mr Albert, a serving senator representing Akwa Ibom North East District, was accused of receiving bribes of 12 cars worth N254 million from an oil marketer, Olajidee Omokore, during his (Albert’s) tenure (2010 – 2014) as commissioner for finance in Akwa Ibom State. The convicted senator was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, the ruling party in the state, before he defected months ago to the YPP, where he secured the party’s ticket for the 2023 governorship election. Court Reinstated Ademola Adeleke as Governor of Osun State.

The appellate court sitting in Abuja has upheld Mr Ademola Adeleke Nurudeen as the governor of Osun State. Recall that the Osun State tribunal had sacked Adeleke as Governor months after his victory citing such issues as over-voting in 749 polling units in the 10 LG areas of the state. A three-member panel of justices decided in Adeleke's appeal on Friday, concluding that the election tribunal fell short in finding that Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress had established their claim of over voting. The court of appeal had faulted the tribunal for making a decision which was based on oral witness of alleged over voting as what is usually considered are the information on the BVAs and voter registration. In addition to overturning the tribunal's decision, the court gave the All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate Gboyega Oyetola N500, 000 in costs in its lead judgment, which was delivered by Justice Mohammed Lawal.
