There is a small town on your way to Oyo, just behind Fiditi, it's called Ilu Ajẹ. Literally, it translates to "Town of Witches". In the late 80s,  there used to be a sign board in Fiditi that pointed to the path to the village,  the signboard had the inscription : "WAY TO ILU AJẸ, HOME OF SCIENCE!". Lots of people used to fear indigenes of Ilu Ajẹ because it was said that every man in Ilu Ajẹ is born of a witch, and every woman in ilu Ajẹ is a witch!. It was said some people visited Ilu Ajẹ to find out why a whole village would be populated by witches. What they said: Because the Baale (village head) is dead and no replacement has been chosen yet, we met with the chiefs who told us the history of the town. The father of the current Alaafin, i.e Alaafin Adeyemi II was said to have many siblings when he was young. One of his siblings got missing!  A king's son got missing ke? Infact, scrap it,  Alaafin of Oyo in those days was not a king,  he was an Emperor!

Hilda Baci.  The Guinness World Records (GWR) has bestowed a new title on Nigerian celebrity chef,  Hilda Baci , naming her ‘protector of the cookathon’. Baci who was recently  officially confirm  as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual took to her social media account to show off her official plaque. I just read a piece by Peter Obi talking about June 12 as the fulfilment of our collective Democratic goal. MKO Abiola emerged as the Presidential Candidate of SDP while Ibrahim Toffa was the NRC candidate.  IBB was a student of Egyptian ex-President Gamal Nasser and molded his trajectory to leadership after him. Nasser was a military general who planed a coup but handed over power to a senior General Mohamed Naguib to take all the international bashings that new heads of military juntas get. He stayed behind and did all possible to make the government unpopular. The Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, has signed the 2023 Electricity Act which is a replacement for the Electricity and Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 into a law. The newly enacted law will de-monopolise Nigerian electricity generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity at the national level. This new law will empower states, companies, and individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in the country. Recall that the Electricity Act 2023 was initially passed by lawmakers in July 2022 to allow the states to issue licences to private investors who can operate mini-grids and power plants within the state. But the Act precludes interstate and transnational electricity distribution.
