'I'm sorry' - Tobi Amusan apologizes for letting Nigerians down World Record holder Tobi Amusan says she's sorry for letting Nigerians down by not defending her world title in Budapest. Tobi Amusan has apologized to Nigerians after losing her women's 100m Hurdles world title at the World Championships in Budapest. Amusan finished sixth in 12.62s as Jamaica's Danielle Williams regained her title from 2015 in a Season's Best (SB) of 12.43s, Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn settled for silver in 12.44s, and USA's Keni Harrison won bronze in 12.46s. The Nigerian speed hurdler's time doesn't justify her capabilities after going through a rough past month with her Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) case and only got cleared two days before the start of the championship. It was evident from her qualifying heat race that she wasn't at her best mentally and physically, so getting to the final was a huge plus and achievement for the World Record (

Fela Anikunlapo's Death Is Best Time For Him To Die - Burna Boy.

Image
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, has said it is good that the late afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, didn't exist in this generation because most of the people revering him today would have criticized and called for his arrest. He said it was good that he existed for the period he did, which offered him the opportunity to pass on the kind of messages his songs carried. Burna Boy, whose maternal grandfather, Benson Idonjie, was Fela Kuti's first manager, stated this in a recent interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe in New York. According to him: "What I have realized is that the times are really funny. Fela in his time was going through things that, if he was here today, it might have been a whole different feeling like a whole bunch of people from Nigeria who you see today celebrating Fela, are the same people that would have been tagging the police to go and arrest Fela if there was Twitter then. "So, at the end of the day, I feel like God

His statement was contained in a post on his social media platform on Friday in which he stated that the Boko Haram faction had already accepted the challenge. According to him, the battle took place in Gaizuwa, with many killed on both sides. Recall that the security expert had posted a different statement on Wednesday claiming that Boko Haram fighters captured 60 terrorists of the Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, including three key commanders of the sect. Zagozola said that the ISWAP terrorists were captured on their way to Damasak in Borno State, identifying the commanders

Putin Warns ECOWAS For Military Junta.

Image
The Russian Government has again taken a position regarding the political situation in Niger Republic wherein a military junta overthrew the government of President Mohamed Bazoum. The Russian government's position has always been that dialogue should be favoured by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the junta that ousted Bazoum early last month. But ECOWAS had imposed economic sanctions against the country while putting its regional army on standby for possible military action. The position of ECOWAS currently chaired by President Bola Tinubu is heavily supported by the United States government whose Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, recently commended the Nigerian government over its leadership of ECOWAS. But Russian president Vladimir Putin again warned against military intervention in Niger Republic during a phone call with Mali military junta's leader and Head of state, Colonel Assimi Goita.
