Emefiele Appears In Abuja Court See How He Looks.

Suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, appeared before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

Emefiele was supposed to be arraigned over N6.9 billion alleged procurement fraud but the arraignment was stalled due to the absence of the second defendant who are said to be indisposed.

Although Emefiele (the first defendant) was present in court, the second defendant, a female CBN employee, Sa'adatu Yaro, was not in court.

Following an application for adjournment, the Presiding Judge, Justice Hamza Muazu adjourned the matter to August 23, 2023.

FCT, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said 12 million families will get N8,000 over a period of six months to lessen the hardships faced by Nigerians as a result of subsidy removal. In a letter to the house of representatives read by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during plenary on Thursday, July 13, Tinubu said it was support to enable poor and vulnerable Nigerians to cope with the cost of meeting basic needs. The letter was for approval of additional financing for the national social safety net programme scaled up by the national assembly. Tinubu Write To House of Reps, Seeking N500billion for Subsidy Paliatives.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives seeking the sum of N500 billion for palliatives to cushion the effect of the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) popularly known as petrol. Tinubu in the letter also sought an amendment to the 2022 supplementary appropriation Act which will allow the Federal Government (FG) to source the money from the 2022 supplementary Appropriation Act of N819.5 billion. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, read the president's letter during plenary on Wednesday.
