Governor Adeleke Lifts Curfew on Ifon and Ilobu Communities

Sequel to a near perfect semblance of peace and orderliness  that has returned to the hitherto warring communities of Ifon Orolu  and Ilobu in irepodun local government.

 Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has directed that, from tomorrow, Wednesday, the 20th of December, 2023,the curfew imposed on the two communities be lifted forthwith. 


A press statement signed to that effect by Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment,  quoted Governor Ademola Adeleke to have directed that, everybody should go about his or her normal private and business transactions without any hindrance or restriction of any kind in the two communities from tomorrow.


Part of the statement released by Oluomo Alimi reads in part :


"Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has viewed with satisfaction the return of peace to Ifon Orolu and Ilobu community in Irepodun local government area. 


"To this end, the curfew earlier imposed by the Executive Governor of Osun state, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in his  Executive capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the state is hereby lifted with immediate effect beginning from tomorrow Wednesday, 20th of December, 2023.


"While the Osun State Government truly acknowledges that lasting peace and order may seem to have been restored,  a 24 hour surveillance should still be strictly observed and maintained by the eagle eyed joint security task force in the two communities. 


"Government uses this opportunity to once again thank and appreciate all those who in one way or the other contributed to the restoration of peace and order. 

Before, during and after the unfortunate communal skirmishes.


"Finally, the Osun state Government wishes all and  sundry a merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2024 in advance in the two communities and Osun state at large."

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, regrets to announce the passing of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of the Army Staff, at age 56. He passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness. Born on February 28, 1968, Lt. General Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu. Pastor Adeboye’s Request To Preach In A Mosque Accepted By Muslim Cleric Mallam Adepoju.

Mallam Yusuf Olatunde Adepoju, the chief lecturer of the Academic of Islamic Propagation (ACADIP) has accepted the challenge by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.  According to Leadership, Adeboye had called on Imams to allow him to use the mosques to preach on Sunda in order to strengthen religious tolerance in the country. The comparative religious scholar expressed his readiness to host Pastor Adeboye at his religious gathering adding that he would also be willing to preach at Redeemed on Friday. BREAKING: Court jails Akwa Ibom YPP gov candidate 42 years for corruption.

Mr. Albert. The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Bassey Albert, has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for corruption. A Federal High Court in Uyo, on Thursday, convicted and sentenced Mr Albert who was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He has been taken to Ikot Ekpene prisons, Akwa Ibom State , to serve his prison term. Mr Albert, a serving senator representing Akwa Ibom North East District, was accused of receiving bribes of 12 cars worth N254 million from an oil marketer, Olajidee Omokore, during his (Albert’s) tenure (2010 – 2014) as commissioner for finance in Akwa Ibom State. The convicted senator was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, the ruling party in the state, before he defected months ago to the YPP, where he secured the party’s ticket for the 2023 governorship election.
